Despite not winning an event thus far this year, Tiger Woods said Thurs night that he considers 2018 one of her best seasons as a guru given the expectations as he made a comeback from his fourth again surgery.
“This has been one of my best years, considering that My partner and i didn’t know what I was about to do — I just didn’t have a clue,” Woods told correspondents from TPC Boston, a day prior to the start of the Dell Technologies Championship. “The fact that I’ve been able to make it this particular far is very exciting with me. I have a bright future ahead of my family because at this point last year, which wasn’t the case, didn’t fully understand.”
Woods, 42, remains stuck upon 79 career PGA Tour triumphs, but he’s engineered 5 various top-six finishes and has twice happen to be runner-up, including at the PGA Championship recently. He is in the middle of what is probably his busiest playing stretch in nine years, which could include seven events in nine weeks by the time it’utes over.
He said he’s today focused on conserving energy when the season winds to a shut, as he never expected to have an extremely busy schedule.
“The hardest part will be I didn’t have any inkling of the items this year might be,” Woods stated. “Normally if I have a good offseason or maybe feel healthy, I can sensibly expect what might happen the next year.
“This year was a complete unfamiliar. I didn’t know if I’d been going to play. I didn’l know how many events I became going to play, what move I was going to use. And lots of adjustments on the fly.”
Woods has already trained for the third FexEx Cup playoff event, next week’s BMW Great near Philadelphia, and needs simply a decent performance in the next a fortnight to qualify for the Tour Shining for the first time in five years. Truly the only two-time FedEx Cup champion, he currently sits 25th while in the standings after slipping five spots with a 40th-place finish with the Northern Trust last week.
Friday will probably mark his first time enjoying at TPC Boston since 2013, but Woods has been quite successful at the course, receiving in 2006 and concluding runner-up twice. He also has a third-place accomplish and three other top-11 results.
Though he hasn’t been able to say a title yet this holiday season, Woods isn’t forcing them.
“The thing for me is to purely to keep getting there during the mix, keep getting certainly, there on the back nine having a chance to win,” he said. “… It’s just a matter of giving myself plenty of opportunities. I’m not visiting win them all. In order to get them, you’ve got to often be there. And I’ve had the experience enough this year and obviously need more of it.”
