Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Albert Pujols may miss the remainder of the season soon after undergoing an arthroscopic debridement of his or her left knee on Friday.

A general timetable to return to enjoying following such a procedure is six to eight weeks, the Angels reported.

Angels general manager Billy Eppler told reporters Pujols predicted to be ready for spg training next year.

Asked if supplemental reps at first base this season, caused by the emergence associated with Shohei Ohtani at designated hitter, factored into Pujols’ injury, Eppler declined to speculate.

“We’ll wait to hear the doctors say moving forward,” he said.

Pujols, 38, spent a short stint on the disabled list throughout July due to left joint inflammation, receiving a platelet-rich plasma hypodermic injection at the time. He returned June 23 and has played repeatedly since, hitting .193 with only a couple home runs and in search of RBIs in 23 games this kind of month.

Pujols hit .245 with Nineteen home runs and 64 RBIs on the season.

“Albert is probably the most durable players I’ng ever seen or been around,” Eppler explained. “I don’t know if there’s a day this season that you would have said he’s 100 percent, yet he plays through a bunch. He plays through irritation. He endures a lot together with doesn’t talk a lot about it. However i can tell you that he’s surely someone that wants to play as well as fights through a lot of hardship to make sure he’s out there as well as contributing to the club.”

This calendar year marks the first season during which Pujols failed to hit 20 or more home runs since The year 2013, when he had 17 within 99 games. His Sixty four RBIs will tie a career lower set in 2013.

Pujols, who notched his 3,000th hit and approved Ken Griffey Jr. for sixth place on the all-time home run list trapped on tape, is still owed $87 million across the next three seasons about the 10-year, $240 million megadeal he signed using the Angels in 2011.
